Batman Arkham A quick reminder !

Batman Arkham A quick reminder !

    A quick reminder !

    Posted: 10 Oct 2020 08:54 PM PDT

Hello everyone, I'm one of your newest moderators on the subreddit and I have been talking to the rest of the mod team on how to improve the subreddit. We all came to the conclusion that, not much needs to change. Your all the heart of the community and are thriving more than ever ! However, that doesn't mean we will leave the subreddit unmoderated. We have updated the subs rules with the same rules that we used to have on Old Reddit.

Nothing too major just stuff that will keep the subreddit clean! We understand that a lot of... off topic posts are on the subreddit and that's something that will change. We still want you all to post whatever you want !(aslong as it's related to the Arkham series and within the rules) any recommendations are welcome and I'd love to hear them!

Also a quick reminder that if you want to post about Gotham Knights we highly suggest checking out r/GothamKnights it's a good subreddit for that topic! It's not a game based in the Arkham Verse so that's why we would redirect you! So please refrain from posting about the game here!

Thank you all and have an amazing day, I'm looking forwards to the future of this sub!

What are some unpopular opinions you have about the Arkham series?

Mine is that Knight is the best Arkham game and city is the worst Arkham game.

Harvey Harvey Harvey Dent, and him in the Arkhamverse

    Posted: 10 Oct 2020 07:54 PM PDT

I've wanted to talk about Harvey Dent in the Arkhamverse for a while since I find him a bit weird.

On the one hand, he is barely in any of the games, and the times he appears he is treated like some minor generic villain, even falling as low as robbing banks.

On the other hand, he has incredible writing behind him, his introduction in Arkham City is absolutely iconic and represents the character masterfully, and in Arkham Knight you can't help but feel sad for him if you listen to his lines, if you capture him after being revealed as Bruce Wayne he even explains how he understands the troubles of dual identities and knows Bruce is the true mask. Not only that but he is voiced by Troy Baker, who does a wonderful job with both Two-Face and Harvey Dent, his Two-Face feels angry and bitter, whilst his Harvey feels melancholic and sensitive.

But even with all, nothing happens with him, he doesn't get a redemption, Batman doesn't give him a second chance, no ambiguous ending, nothing, he's just another villain.

The player may feel sad for Harvey but not Batman.

And it's this that I've always found strange about Harvey in the Arkham Series, there's so much talent behind him in both the writing and voice acting yet they did nothing with it, he's such a complex character and has deep ties to Batman yet he's treated like if he were some D-List villain, hell, Arkham's D-List villain, Victor Zsasz, gets more care given to him than Harvey Dent.

What baffles me the most is how they treat him in the Robin DLC, where he loses all his nuance as a character and just becomes a stereotypical bad guy.

    -sigh-

There's kinda no point to this post except talking about Harvey, despite my grievances with him I hope we get to know how he's doing post-Knight, that be by a cameo or mention. I hope he gets therapy and goes back to being a lawyer, since I feel like a tie-in comic could do great things with that
