Does anyone know why this happens? Or if I can fix it? I’m not sure if it’s a common glitch but I recently bought it on Xbox one and can’t beat it cause of this. I watched a walk through on it to make sure this wasn’t intentional. Help please

It's so confusing, I've tried look on line but nothing seems to be working, I aim to shoot it and it a has a Red Cross through the part where you aim, I've friend holding the left stick but that doesn't work either. I really need to complete this challenge to complete the game so please help. I'm on Xbox btw.
