Something I didn’t know until now in Arkham Asylum

I'm replaying Arkham Asylum for like the 40+ time and I wanted to see what would happen if I used Detective Mode while in "Scarecrows world" and the only thing that happens is you hear him laugh at you.

Do robins shuriken have different effects in combat in arkham knight? Or are they just batarang essentially?

What exactly was Joker’s plan in Arkham City/did Arkham City actually have the weakest storyline out of the four games?

    Posted: 07 Dec 2021 07:07 PM PST

I've always wondered this too. In one of the game over screens you get Joker saying "if you only knew what I had planned." And it's like, yeah. What did you have planned exactly? I feel like this is kind of one of the things that topples the story of you really really think about it. He's arguably the main bad guy again, but his whole role in the story is really just to give batman something to do while protocol ten counts down. And that's something I've come to realize through criticism videos: there's really very little story to Arkham City. Batman gets bad blood, has to go around doing shit to draw out getting a cure, then protocol ten happens. Batman stops protocol ten, then fights Clayface and Joker dies. The end. Amazing game but very thin story. Think about the others: in Asylum, Batman has to stop Joker from taking over Arkham Asylum while dealing with all the bad guys who were let loose. Simple but strong narrative. Origins has a bounty placed on Batman's head so he has to deal with all sorts of bad guys coming for him while also navigating a city not used to him. That means dealing with a police force working against him instead of with him, while also learning that he doesn't have to handle his mission all on his own. And the birth of his archenemy. Not the greatest game but arguably the strongest story on a lot of different levels. And then in Knight there's him dealing with his greatest failure while also fighting a battle against himself. Arkham City is hands down the best game in the series and I think it's fair to say right up there with the Insomniac Spider-Man games for the title of best superhero games of all time, but when you think about it, there's not a ton going on.
