I finally did it!!! Been playing these games since my dad bought me the first one in 2009. Can’t say there’s been a better childhood memory than Batman Arkham.

How important is it to play previous games in order to understand the story?

    Posted: 22 Sep 2021 04:57 AM PDT

I recently bought a PS5 and purchased PS+, and soon when I will turn 18 I will recieve Batman Arkham Knight from the PS+ collection. I assume that some references will be there, but is it impossible to understand the general story without playing the previous games? I thought about playing this game and if I like it buy the previous games but that's only if I will be able to understand the story in Arkham Knight

Why is Arkham origins so hated?

    Posted: 21 Sep 2021 10:10 AM PDT

God im still playing the game havent finished it yet, but this game is close to a masterpiece in my opinion. I know its made by another company and has different voice actors (which are both extremely good at doing their job), but come on. The game is always known as "the weak one" in the arkham games and I just dont see why. Boss fights are amazing, story is amazing, game is amazing. I still dont even think its fair the game isnt included in the arkham trilogy and didnt have the return to arkham remaster. I just love this game to death, and maybe, maybe (please dont send me death threats), I like it more than Arkham City. It is truly incredible and I do not get the backlash for it, can someone please explain?

How does Batman call the bat mobile in asylum?

    Posted: 21 Sep 2021 08:44 AM PDT

So obviously Batman uses the bat mobile to knock back into the sea but how does he even call the bat mobile there in the first place. I understand he would have the technology but the only 2 ways to get to Arkham west are through those doors but neither one of them is open rather locked. I'm guessing it's a plot hole but I might be missing something

    What happened after Knightfall?

    Posted: 21 Sep 2021 10:27 PM PDT

So according to the ending cutscene we see that kickass fear toxin induced Batman. But what happens up until then after Wayne Manor blows up? Do Bruce and Alfred race down to the Batcave in some sort of protected elevator and stay somewhere safe in there? It would make sense that they end up living in the Batcave because Bruce still stays around to protect Gotham. And wouldn't the Bat-family (besides Alfred since he's in on it) hear or learn about the fear toxin Batman and know his plan? Really curious to hear everyone's thoughts

I really wish we got another game like Asylum

Evan though it's clearly the least technically advanced game in the series, there's just something special about it. I love the Metroidvania ish aspect of it. Because the game is linear I still feel that the devs were able to put more focus on the level design, and I still feel it has the best in the series. And it's so atmospheric, that was something that was just lost in the other games. I know there's that 3ds game but that was clearly a cash grab with little effort put into it.

i love walking in batman: arkham knight!

    Posted: 21 Sep 2021 12:28 PM PDT

making batman walk by default was definitely the right choice

is there anything more atmospheric than when, after an incredible feat against impossible odds, batman adjusts his gloves and then walks purposefully, calmly, ominously, toward his goal?

most games suffer from the goofiness of their main characters being extreme long distance runners in all circumstances - the player character just... jogs. for an entire 30-80 hour game experience, which may be set, narratively, over the course of weeks or months! of course it's a necessary compromise because we don't want to have to move painfully slowly over the map, so we suspend our disbelief and just go with it even tho it's a bit silly. there's a lot of main characters out there with very tired legs.

not so batman. batman glides when he needs to go fast, or drives.

for the rest, there's walking - the patient march of inevitability, of a force of nature
