Hot Take i guess: I don't want a new Arkham game.

    Posted: 09 Feb 2021 07:33 PM PST

I don't want a new Arkham game, the series is over and should be left alone.

I have no problem if they decide to continue the Arkhamverse like they are doing with Suicide Squad, or if they opt to remake the older games like Resident Evil does, but a new Batman Arkham game just isn't it chief, I see no appeal to it.

This also applies to Batman games in general as there's an oversaturation of the character when it comes to gaming, but I'm a bit more lose when it comes to that (I'd be down for Batman Beyond)

    Campaign for Disarmament glitch?

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 03:40 AM PST

So I'm at perdition bridge and just finished the explosive device there. The issue is there's literally no other tanks or drones. I destroyed them all but the story didn't continue. It's acting like I still have at least one enemy tank or drone left to destroy but I don't. Nothing is coming at me at all. I did use the hacking thing on one of em but the scanner in the lower right corner isn't showing any threats nor is my scanner when I press the up button. I really don't wanna have to go thru with this again if at all possible. Just making sure I'm not missing something. The winch isn't locking on to the bomb payload but it is The Riddler's thingthin so I'm just confused. Has anyone else encountered this issue before either in the same area or another one? I've fired the Vulcan cannon and the other one but nothing is happening.

Scarecrow: Who said anything about... Running?

I actually love the Riddler being annoying since he is supposed to be that way

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 01:40 AM PST

I always hear people saying how annoying Riddler is in the games, but I feel like it's a fun way to make him stand out. He's SUPPOSED to be cocky and annoy Batman since he's "superior". The fact that he is annoying makes him even more satisfying to beat. I think his voice actor did a great job at portraying him.

The choice at the end of Shadow War (Season of Infamy) is barely a choice

    Posted: 09 Feb 2021 04:00 PM PST

Arkham Knight, Shadow War DLC. The one with the League of Assassins.

Major spoilers. At the end of the mission, you're given a choice: spare Ra'as and keep this war going but save your moral code or destroy the cure, effectively killing him and ending this thing here and now.

I'm playing through the game on Knightmare mode again. This choice always bugged me. Destroying the cure may not be straight-up killing him, but the game sure acts like it is. All of the moral conversations leading up to this are about "should I break my number one rule?"

My problem is that the game does not work very hard to present the "kill" option as anything but that. It knows it's a hard sell; every conversation you have between finding Ra'as and facing him for the last time is a defense of killing Ra'as. And if it were really me in this scenario, I would probably destroy the cure. But I'm playing as Batman, and as Batman says in the only line in the entire mission defending the "spare him" option, "I don't kill."

The absurd thing to me is that this comes at the end of a game about Jason Todd. Jason freaking Todd, who perfectly embodies the "kill/don't kill" argument Batman deals with. You spare bad guy after bad guy, fight Joker off in a desperate psychological battle over this very issue, and make some of the greatest sacrifices you can make to ensure you don't cross that line.

And as if that wasn't enough, this game is the culmination of Batman's story and career. Am I really gonna have Batman kill during one of the last encounters on one of the last nights after years of keeping this rule to the detriment of himself and his family? It's like promising not to drink until you're 21 and getting hammered the night before your 21st birthday.

Note that I'm not defending Batman's no-kill rule here, just saying that lore-wise, it makes absolutely zero sense that Batman, if he considered this to be killing (and from what he says, he does), would cross this line in a side mission that takes ten minutes to complete.

Plus, Batman would never take a black and white choice like this. I feel like realistically, he would ignore the cure and let them fight the war. Rather than taking a side, he'd take his own side and just beat them all out of Gotham. He's done it before. He just defeated an entire ARMY.

Last nitpick; Alfred says at one point that it's okay because Ra'as is prolonging his life through "artificial means." The supernatural argument he makes earlier is stronger, but that specific line is opening up such a nasty loophole. Like what, Batman's gonna run around hospitals unplugging all the villains he puts into comas from life support because it's "artificial"? Gonna have to try harder than that, Alfred.

    Toy Soldiers has horrible challenges.

    Posted: 09 Feb 2021 01:57 PM PST

I'm talking about Catwoman. So, you need to knock someone down with caltrops and then take them down. You also can't be seen. 99% of the time when you knock down a thug with caltrops they're gonna be facing up still, meaning you somehow failed the challenge of not being seen. It's pure luck
