Anyone else read the Arkham Knight comics? Posted: 04 Jul 2020 09:03 PM PDT I'm reposting this from a comment I made on a post from a while ago but I made some additions and also talk about the New 52 Arkham Knight Now, I say this as a big Arkham Knight (game) apologist and even bigger Arkham Knight (character) fan, but the Arkham Knight Genesis comics just outright ruined his legacy. So the game presents the Arkham Knight as this mysterious unpredictable figure that came out of nowhere and single handedly seized Gotham city; no one knows his identity, there isn't even a whisper of it. It gave the impression that the Arkham Knight was like the Mandolorian, always with his visor on so that no one can see his face ever. Then you read the comics and apparently every major bad guy knew his identity. Slade, Harley, Hush... etc all knew his identity; to think, if Batman did a bit of interrogation with just one of the bad guys he was going up against in the game, he would've figured out the Knight's identity much earlier and saved us all a lot of trouble. I also really dislike how Deathstroke (Slade Wilson) was handled. The gist of it is that back in Arkham Asylum, Jason was locked up and being guarded by Slade under Joker's pay. Jason tells Slade that he'll triple what Joker paid him and Slade just goes with it. He believes him and abandons his old contract. You'd think a world-wide famous assassin would have some standards and wouldn't believe his target when they promise triple the amount they were paid. Isn't it a trope by now that the professional assassin would kill his target despite his target promising to double the amount they were paid? Then there's just how flimsily the Jason just hovers around the major Batman Arkham major story beats without Batman and only Batman noticing. He apparently had a conversation and was overpowered by Joker while Joker was on death's door in Arkham City and just before going to face Batman for the last time. Not only that, but he gave this big speech about how Jason is his final weapon against Batman and how Jason is his legacy or something as if he already knew the upcoming events of the next game in the series. It all feels so wishy washy and demystifies Arkham Knight so much as well as other characters from the Arkhamverse such as Slade and especially Batman. It also just isn't an Arkham Knight comic; it's just another Red Hood origin story which we've seen time and time again and this one was done badly; I love the militaristic aspect of the Arkham Knight, it's a simple yet great spin on the Red Hood character and has so much potential to be something unique. Finally, I want to talk about the other Arkham Knight comic; the one that's part of the DC Universe, the mainstream comic storyline. This comic has some of the same problems, that is to say that every mainline villain knows the Arkham Knight's identity but in this one, Batman knows that the bad guys know the Knight's identity but he can't get them to admit. Which I'm not sure is better or worse, but I'd settle on better. I also like the thought process behind this Arkham Knight, because she is the complete opposite of the one from the game. She's an actual knight who has ties to Arkham Asylum, with a whole army of knights at her side. She uses a sword and a shield. It's a very literal translation of the name, and while I prefer the original Arkham Knight, I think it's valiant to make such a change to the character. The problem is that her plan is the same as the Boobieman's plan from the Powerpuff Girls (PPG). In that episodes of the PPG, the Boogieman covers the sun with a giant disco ball so the monsters can stay up at night forever. In the comics, the Arkham Knight covers the night sky with a miniature sun so Batman can't use the darkness to his adventure. It's so stupid. [link] [comments]

Most underrated gadget in all games? Posted: 04 Jul 2020 04:47 PM PDT For me it's the freeze grenade in City, it is REALLY useful in long combats besides building water platforms [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Jul 2020 12:08 AM PDT So what's everyone's favorite boss fight in the entire franchise ? Mine is against Electrocutioner in Arkham Origins. Man it was so difficult and engaging [link] [comments]
